Measure V's Impacted Areas

Cargill Saltflats

Measure V's target is impact is direct, not on the side, not a mistake, not a typo. The target is Cargill. That's it. Measure V gives the people a vote on the future of Cargill saltflats. Measure V is not sponsored by Cargill or any developer. In fact, if you look at DMB sponsored literature and campaign material, they don't say anything like "Vote Yes on V."

It is in the public interest to have a say on important issues such as increases in traffic, water usage, environment and other city services should Cargill decide to develop the saltflats. Measure V gives you a choice to make that decision. In order to change Cargill saltflats zoning and its use designation, it must gain a majority vote (50%+1) to pass.

In this November election, we are not voting on any Cargill development plan as Cargill has not submitted an application. What Measure V does is to ensure any future Cargill Saltflats development plan must go before the voters for approval.
